What is KickStart?

KickStart helps you return to health with support from day one. Our team of KickStart consultants are allied health professionals (AHPs) who can help you find the most suitable support services for your individual needs.

KickStart is open to anyone covered by an MLC Life Insurance policy.


How KickStart works

 

Step 1

We receive notification of your referral from your employer, fund or you can elect to self-refer to KickStart directly.

Step 2

Your appointed KickStart consultant will be in contact within one business day to explain the service and address any questions and obtain an understanding of what support services will work best for you.

Step 3

Support services may include:

  • a medical case conference with your treating practitioner
  • external rehabilitation
  • health and wellness programs

Step 4

If required, we can provide claims lodgement support to ensure a seamless transition to claim.

Step 5

KickStart will remain involved by developing and implementing a return to work plan as you transition back to work.

  • Who can access KickStart?
    KickStart is open to anyone who is covered by an MLC Life Insurance Income Protection or Group Salary Continuance policy. KickStart is designed to assist you if you’re finding it difficult to maintain your day-to-day role, if you have upcoming sick leave due to surgery/treatment, or if you currently can’t work due to illness or injury.
  • Is information shared with my employer?
    We won't share any personal information with third parties without your consent. If you submit a claim, we'll only share relevant information about the claim with your employer to support your recovery, rehabilitation and return to work.
  • Will participating in KickStart impact my ability to submit a claim?
    No, KickStart is purely a support service that’s designed to promote collaborative engagement with healthcare providers to support your return-to-health journey. All claims are assessed against the specific policy terms and definitions.
  • Can KickStart help me submit a claim?
    KickStart can help you lodge your claim, as well as work with your appointed claims case consultant to provide a seamless transition over to a claim.
  • Can I submit a claim without KickStart?
    Yes, KickStart is an optional early intervention support service whether you intend to make a claim or not.
  • Can KickStart fund my treatment?
    No, while MLC Life Insurance can’t pay for or provide treatment, we can still support you in many ways, including through relevant Vivo and rehabilitation support and recovery services. For more information, please visit vivowellbeing.com.au/vivo-services.
  • Can I access external rehabilitation programs with KickStart?

    Yes. At the discretion of your recovery specialist or injury management adviser, they can help you to connect with appropriate rehabilitation and recovery supports in line with your medical situation, stage of recovery and other relevant factors.

  • What are the costs?
    There is no extra cost to access KickStart as it’s included as part of your insurance arrangement with us.
